Each year, on average we have around 15-20 rising 2 year old bulls available for the purchase in later January . Normally 1/3 are ET bulls, 1/3 AI and 1/3 natural mating They have their final vet check, fertility tests and vaccinations in mid January. It’s important to note that they still are approximately 20 months of age. Up to this stage they have supplemented feeding with silage and meadow hay only.
We are also very committed to helping our clients if they have any issues or breakdowns with their bulls during the mating season..
We currently have a selection of 20 yearling bulls with the majority from Et and AI.
We have placed a strong emphasis on their feet composition and calving ease and docility.
A number of the young bulls have some very high EBVs in particular the ET Bulls that may suit your herd.
Each year we would have some 70 to 80 heifer calves. The majority we like to carryover and mate in April each year. The majority would be AI with a low birth weight bull. In December every year, we calculate what is required to replace within the main herd. This on average is around 20 to 30 cows. We pick our top heifers weighing up many factors such as their genetics, their indexes and the direction that the stud is requiring that particular year. We can’t carry them all over, so we have some real quality heifers for sale and in calf.
Each year we have around 20-30 Stud Cows available for sale PTIC. They are normally dispersed in mid January- February to allow plenty of time to recover from weaning their calf and also prior to next seasons.
All cows will have information relating to their mating and expected calving down. We have to disperse a number of our cows each year for two main reasons: Space as we are limited to 150 breeders at present and making way for new genetic lines.
Trafalgar Angus ET program normally commences in March of every year with implants occurring around the same time. Depending on the number of successful flushes we can often have excess fertilised embryos for sale. This can vary year by year but you can get an indication of what’s being used in our ET program under the appropriate year. It’s best to contact via email for stock availability.
